This is about the time of year where we have just about had it with the challenging winter months and all of the issues that go along with it. We are ready to leave the winter blues behind and get our bodies (and mind) feeling stronger than ever.

If you’re looking for ways to help your immune system* finally kick the winter crud to the corner and get on your way to feeling your best in time for Spring and Summer you needn’t pump yourself full of harmful or risky (and sometimes strange) home and traditional remedies.

All you really need to do to achieve your wellness goals can be found documented throughout history…

The Powerful History of Silver

The ancient Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, and Phoenicians used silver vessels to preserve their drinking water.(1) The silver metal cups react with the oxygen in the air and releasing trace amounts of bio-active silver ions into the water, keeping it free from harmful intruders.

Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, was the first to describe the antimicrobial benefits of silver.(2)  Silver preparations were used to promote wound healing and for the treatment of ulcers.  The forms of silver Hippocrates used were likely ionic silver in the form of silver nitrate based on reports published in a later Roman pharmacopeia.

Here’s an interesting fact, ever heard of the phrase “born with a silver spoon in your mouth”? This dated back to the Middle Ages, when  silverware, i.e. eating utensils made from silver metal, were used by nobility and middle class society to help prevent the transmission of foodborne illness and also to convey social status.  One could argue that modern society has been born with a silver spoon in its mouth, inheriting the health benefits of silver without fully appreciating the gift we have been given. Only, it’s been a bit of a secret!

Silver found use in antimicrobial and wound-healing applications for battlefield medicine in the 1800’s and early 1900’s.(3) Before the invention of pasteurization, silver coins were dropped into containers of milk to preserve them.

Today, silver is used to purify drinking water on the international space station,(4)  promote wound healing,(5) and in medical devices.(6)

Look where else I bet you didn’t realize that silver is a naturally-occurring element : (7)

The Good News

While walking around drinking water out of a silver goblet, while quite the “gangster” look, is probably not the best way to build immune support. The good news is that today we have Sovereign Silver’s Bio-Active Silver Hydrosol™, which represents the ultimate modern refinement of bio-active silver for immune support*.

Today, Sovereign Silver’s Bio-Active Silver Hydrosol™ represents the ultimate modern refinement of bio-active silver for immune support*.

Bio-active silver hydrosol’s purity and >98% bio-activity make it more effective at lower concentrations, meaning you can take less and get more support* than colloidal silvers, which only contain inactive forms of the metal (think back to the metal drinking cup…it wasn’t the metal that remained in the cup that preserved the drinking water, it was the bio-active silver ions that were in the water at very low levels).  Remember with silver hydrosol, less is more!
